Lenovo AeroBlade imagines a laptop as thin as a foldable phone, thanks to solid-state cooling

At IFA 2026, Lenovo unveiled its Aeroblade concept laptop, a proof-of-concept design that aims to revolutionize the laptop's thin and lightweight profile. Standing at less than 10mm thick, the laptop is thinner than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (9.7mm) and even thinner than the iPhone 17 Pro (8.75mm). Weighing in at just 830 grams, the Aeroblade is significantly lighter than Apple's 12-inch MacBook, which was 13.1mm thick at its thickest point.

The secret to the Aeroblade's remarkable thinness lies in its solid-state active cooling system, developed in collaboration with Frore Systems. This innovative cooling technology replaces traditional fan-based cooling, freeing up valuable vertical space, reducing noise, and eliminating dust accumulation. The laptop will still feature high-quality components, including sharp OLED screens, a magnesium-aluminum chassis, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and fast Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

It will be powered by Intel's Core Ultra 7 (Series 2) processors, although a specific timeline for the laptop's release has not been provided.

In parallel, Lenovo showcased its new AI-focused Yoga lineup at IFA 2026. The Yoga Pro 9n and Yoga 9n 2-in-1 are designed for professionals who require substantial computing power for AI development, content creation, software development, and 3D rendering. These laptops run on Nvidia's RTX Spark platform, enabling sophisticated AI models to run locally, rather than relying on cloud services.

Lenovo's broader AI strategy aims to integrate artificial intelligence seamlessly into personal computing, making it a core feature of the user experience.
