Kremlin Manipulates Fears Of Ukraine’s Partners, But There’s No Need To Fear Russia — Betsa

Deputy Ukrainian Foreign Minister Mariana Betsa has stated that Russia is not advancing on the battlefield, leading the country to escalate attacks against civilians in a bid to destabilize society and influence Ukraine's international allies by exploiting their fears. During the UN General Assembly debates on the situation in Ukraine's occupied territories, Betsa emphasized the need for Ukraine to enhance its anti-ballistic capabilities and called on partners to provide assistance in reinforcing air defense.

She highlighted the importance of the debates in keeping Crimea and other occupied territories at the forefront of the international community's attention. Betsa also stressed the importance of documenting Russia's crimes, despite the challenges posed by the lack of ground monitoring missions due to Russia's restrictions. She brought attention to the dire human rights situation in the occupied territories, particularly concerning abducted and displaced children, and the plight of Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians unlawfully held by Russia.

Moreover, she warned about the precarious state of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, urging maximum international monitoring and access to prevent nuclear escalation. Betsa urged international partners not to recognize Russia's State Duma elections held in the occupied territories, arguing that it would be a farce and illegal.

She also called for international attention on Ukraine's shipping and food security, urging the UN Secretary-General to use his powers to restore safe shipping in the Black Sea, which affects countries worldwide. Betsa urged international partners not to be afraid of Russia and to strengthen their support for Ukraine. She emphasized the need for unity between Ukraine and its partners, focusing on enhancing anti-ballistic defense and imposing sanctions on Russia.
