Kolt Dieterich getting comfortable at center for Washington football

Kolt Dieterich, a 6-foot-6, 305-pound offensive lineman from Sam Houston State, initially arrived at the University of Washington as a tackle. However, following shoulder surgery and his older brother Geirean's arm injury, he was tasked with learning the center position. With Landen Hatchett recovering from a wrist injury, Dieterich began to familiarize himself with snapping the ball.

After a strong fall camp, he is set to start at center in Week One for the Apple Cup. Dieterich acknowledges the mental adjustment required, as he must make calls and maintain the cadence while playing tackle previously involved listening to the center and executing plays. The Hatchett brothers, John and Champ, have been instrumental in Dieterich's transition, providing guidance on the offense and fostering confidence.

Head coach Jedd Fisch commends Dieterich's intelligence, strength, and versatility, noting that he is well-prepared to excel at center and adapt to any position as needed throughout the season.
