King Charles Meets ‘King’ and His Men

King Charles III met Pakistan's national cricket team in London prior to the decisive third and final Test against England. The meeting occurred at Clarence House, where the monarch engaged with the Pakistani squad alongside Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Among the attendees was notable Pakistani batsman Babar Azam, who received particular attention from the British monarch.

Babar Azam surprised King Charles with a cricket bat, signed by all members of the Pakistan team. The monarch expressed gratitude for the gesture and inquired about the bat's origin, asking if it was crafted in Pakistan and if it contained Pakistani willow. Babar responded that the bat featured the signatures of every player. King Charles then thanked the entire Pakistan team before posing for photographs with them.

These interactions come at a challenging period for Pakistan cricket, which has experienced significant changes ahead of the final Test. The team has undergone major alterations, including the dismissal of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and the departure of seven players, such as former captain Salman Ali Agha. Pakistan has also endured two successive defeats against England in the ongoing Test series.

It is reported that Mike Hesson has been reappointed as head coach for the final match, while Babar Azam has once again assumed the role of captain. The third and final Test between Pakistan and England is set to commence on September 9 at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
