Iran attacks US targets despite Trump threats

On Thursday, Iran struck US military installations in Kuwait, despite US President Donald Trump warning of further retaliation. The latest clashes, which escalated on Sunday, exacerbate the ongoing stalemate as Iran controls the vital Strait of Hormuz, while the US enforces its blockade on Iranian ports. Following extensive US bombardment of Iranian sites, leaving 19 Iranians dead between Tuesday and Wednesday, Iran retaliated with strikes across the Middle East, targeting US bases and forces in the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, and Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

Iran's security chief, Mohsen Rezaei, warned Trump of a "new strategy" that would "shatter your foundations." The US military did not directly address the attack, but its spokesman, Tim Hawkins, stated that the US never targets civilians, unlike Iran's Revolutionary Guards. The Iranian Red Crescent reported that a missile strike in the coastal town of Kuhestak killed four people, including a child, and wounded over 50.

Kuwait's army intercepted an Iranian missile and drone attack, claiming the attack hit the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait. Iran also struck Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, although the Gulf country reported no such incident. The US imposed 'maximum pressure' on Iran, vowing to implement sanctions on its trade partners, while Trump suggested renaming the Strait of Hormuz as "Trump Strait."

Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, labeled the US as "Satan" and expressed dismay over the return to hostilities.
