Inter Miami acquire Matías Galarza from River Plate

Inter Miami has secured midfielder Matías Galarza from Argentine club River Plate, with the deal including a loan option to 2026. The 24-year-old Paraguayan international featured in four matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and netted a crucial winning goal against Türkiye. Galarza contributed one assist in 10 appearances (eight starts) during his initial half-season with Atlanta United.

Prior to his stints in the MLS, the versatile player amassed over 150 games for various South American clubs, including Vasco da Gama, Coritiba, Talleres, and River Plate. On the international stage, Galarza has tallied four goals in 19 appearances for Paraguay. The acquisition of Galarza is part of Inter Miami's active summer transfer window, which has also seen the arrival of Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, Ecuadorian defender Fricio Caicedo, and young Brazilian winger Riquelme Fillipi.

Under the guidance of new head coach Kily González, the Herons are aiming to become the first team since the LA Galaxy in 2011-12 to achieve consecutive MLS Cup victories. Currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference with 42 points and third in the Supporters' Shield standings, Inter Miami continues to bolster its roster ahead of the new season.
