'I wouldn't call it a war,' Vance says after Iran hostilities flare

Iran announced it had struck U.S. military installations in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates on Thursday, vowing to retaliate for a wedding attack it attributed to Washington. U.S. Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. stated that the incident was under investigation. The fresh confrontations escalated the six-month-long conflict, as Iran continues to control the vital Strait of Hormuz and Washington enforces its blockade of Iranian ports.

Kuwait's military reported on Thursday that it had intercepted a missile and drone assault from Iran, while the Iranian military claimed responsibility for hitting the Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base in Kuwait. Kuwait described the attack as a "serious violation of the norms of international law." Iran also asserted it had targeted Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, although the Gulf nation denied any such attack.

These strikes followed an alleged missile strike on a wedding in the Iranian coastal town of Kuhestak on Tuesday night, which reportedly killed four people, including a child, and injured more than 50. The U.S. Vice President said Washington was examining the alleged strike but cast doubt on the Iranian claims.
