‘Haunted’ tribal hostel: Amravati Collector, top officials spend night with students to dispel ghost rumours

Amravati Collector Ashish Yerekar and other high-ranking officials spent the night in a tribal hostel in Doma village, aimed at dispelling rumors of a ghost haunting the location. Around 610 out of the hostel's 850 students had fled due to fear, following claims of girls being "possessed". After a health assessment found no supernatural cause, the officials urged students to reject superstition and adopt a scientific perspective.

The team inspected a newly built girls' hostel on campus, designed to alleviate overcrowding. Officials shared their careers and civil services experiences with students, instilling confidence and encouraging them to pursue higher education and civil service careers. A Class XI student, Kalyani Gopichand Jawarkar, reported that the visit helped remove fear among students, boosting their confidence.
