Hadi: Pas prepared for GE16, earlier or later

KOTA BARU: The Pas party is fully prepared for the 16th General Election (GE16), regardless of whether it takes place earlier or later than planned. Pas leader Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang confirmed that the party has its candidates ready and is making preparations for the election. Hadi emphasized that the timing of the election is in the hands of the government, stating that they are comfortable with the election occurring sooner or later, as they have experienced both scenarios.

He further noted that in Malaysia, the government does not inform the public of the exact date in advance, unlike in other countries. Hadi made these remarks after officiating the Pas Central Ulama Council's annual muktamar. It was also reported that Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi expressed support for an earlier GE16, arguing that it would enable the government to secure a new mandate from the people.

Zahid, who serves as Barisan Nasional chairman, stated that the coalition remains prepared to face the polls if the current parliament completes its full term.
