Had benefit of watching PM Modi talk about AI 10 years ago: Nvidia's Jensen Huang

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has urged India to accelerate its adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and build a domestic AI economy, describing the nation as a leading IT power. Speaking at the G20 Innovation Ministerial, Huang emphasized that AI is advancing rapidly and all countries must move more swiftly. He noted that India's established IT industry provides a strong foundation for this new technology platform.

Huang recalled a conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about AI a decade ago and expressed excitement about local companies and startups leveraging AI to contribute to and develop India's AI economy. He stressed that AI has become a vital economic infrastructure and that the US administration supports technology development, hoping other G20 countries will adopt AI to create their own economies.

Huang cautioned against regulations based on hypothetical harms, recommending that rules be applied only to actual risks. He also emphasized the need for AI systems to improve in sophistication, reliability, and safety, drawing parallels to the advancements in automobile safety over the past century. Huang attributed the improvement in AI quality and reliability to the efforts of technology companies who must prioritize safety while pursuing innovation.
