GPT-6 Astra

GPT-6 Astra, a new language model, is set to launch this week, initially available to select organizations before opening to all ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, as well as through the OpenAI API and AWS. Priced at $10 million for input and $50 million for output, it is positioned as a competitor to Claude Fable 5 and 5.1.

Impressively, Astra excels on the ARC-AGI 3 benchmark, achieving a 99.9% score, significantly higher than Fable 5, which has not yet published a result. This exceptional performance is partly attributed to the custom Provider Adapter harness, which preserves reasoning state between requests and supports long conversations. Astra also demonstrates superior security capabilities, achieving a perfect score on ExploitBench, compared to Claude Fable 5.1's 78.5%.

Despite its strengths, Astra lags behind Claude Fable 5.1 in the Intelligence Index, scoring 61 points, five points below the latter. It also trails Meta's Muse Spark 1.3. However, Astra provides better value for cost, being less than half the price of Claude Fable 5 for the same score. The model's label will be gpt-6-astra upon its official release.
