Google Brings Conversational AI Search to Gmail

Google has recently introduced conversational AI search features to Gmail, Docs, and Google Keep, as announced in a company blog post. This addition, part of a series of voice-based AI offerings from the tech giant, aims to streamline daily tasks for users. For Gmail users, the feature allows them to avoid manually sifting through emails by using conversational search to ask questions like, "What's my flight's gate number?"

Docs Live, on the other hand, enables users to engage in real-time conversation to create context-aware documents, acting as a thought partner and co-writer to help generate a first draft faster. Lastly, Google Keep transforms from a simple note-taking tool to a structured idea refinement platform through conversation, allowing users to "brain dump" their thoughts and turn them into organized lists and notes without typing a single word.

These new features are currently available for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra subscribers in Gmail and Keep, and Docs for Pro and Ultra subscribers. Google Workspace business customers can expect these features to roll out soon. Despite the advances in conversational AI, integrating it seamlessly with existing B2B workflows remains a challenge, as fragmented data, approval rules, and software systems often hinder a smooth experience.
