Gonzaga scheduled to host Incarnate Word in fifth known home nonconference game

Gonzaga University is set to host Incarnate Word in what will be the team's fifth home nonconference game this season. The matchup is scheduled for either November 10 or 11 at McCarthey Athletic Center, according to Bracketeer.com's Rocco Miller. Details regarding the tip-off time and television broadcast have yet to be released and will be announced at a later date.

The game is planned between Gonzaga's November 7 home opener against New Mexico State and their Nov. 14 matchup against LSU at Numerica Veterans Arena. This will be the second time the two teams have faced off, with Incarnate Word falling 103-68 at Gonzaga's Kennel during the 2017-18 campaign. On Gonzaga's bench that day, Rui Hachimura and Zach Norvell Jr. combined for 35 points, while Josh Perkins contributed an additional 16 points.

Incarnate Word will be playing without its top six scorers, including three players who averaged double digits last season. The Cardinals have struggled recently, posting a 39-59 record over the past three seasons under coach Shane Heirman. Heirman's coaching staff includes former Auburn, UTEP, and Central Michigan coach Tony Barbee, as well as former San Jose State coach Dave Wojcik, a long-time friend of Gonzaga's Mark Few who once recruited former Zags star Brandon Clarke.

Other nonconference home games for Gonzaga include matchups against Montana State (Nov. 17), NAIA Eastern Oregon (Dec. 2), and Cornell (Dec. 31). The Pac-12 Conference schedule and full nonconference lineup will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
