Ghana reappoints Queiroz as Black Stars coach

Carlos Queiroz, the 73-year-old Portuguese coach, has been reappointed as head coach of Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars. Queiroz returns to the role following his previous stint in charge during this year's FIFA World Cup, where he guided the team to the last 32 before a 1-0 defeat to Colombia. GFA announced the decision after internal deliberations, with no specific duration of the new contract disclosed.

The Ghana Football Association believes Queiroz's international experience, technical skills, and understanding of the team make him an ideal fit for leading Ghana into the next phase of their international career. Queiroz boasts an impressive track record, having managed Iran, Portugal, Egypt, South Africa, Colombia, and Qatar at major tournaments.

He also had two stints as assistant manager at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson. His immediate task will be preparing the Black Stars for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which begin later in the month.
