Panvel RTO Introduces App to Warn Drivers of Accident Black Spots and Hazards Ahead of Ganeshotsav 2026

As Ganeshotsav 2026 approaches, the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Panvel has unveiled a mobile application, 'Black Spot RTO Panvel', to alert motorists about potential accident-prone areas and road hazards along the Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Goa, and Konkan highways. The free app, compatible with both Android and iOS devices, provides advance warnings about identified dangerous stretches, curves, and hazardous road sections under Panvel RTO's jurisdiction.

RTO Officials emphasize that the application's primary purpose is to alert drivers as they approach these locations, prompting them to slow down and exercise increased caution. The RTO has urged Ganesh devotees heading towards their native places in Konkan and other motorists to download the app from either the Google Play Store or Apple App Store before embarking on their journeys.

With thousands of vehicles expected to traverse these highways during the Ganesh festival, the initiative becomes particularly crucial, as it addresses the increased traffic volumes and heightened pressure on vulnerable road segments. The RTO has also issued a road safety advisory, urging motorists to respect speed limits, avoid dangerous overtaking, wear seat belts, and wear helmets while riding two-wheelers.

Additional safety measures include abstaining from driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and pulling over at a safe location if experiencing fatigue or drowsiness, taking adequate rest before resuming travel. Panvel Civic Body has also organized an eco-friendly Ganesh idol-making workshop ahead of Ganeshotsav to promote sustainable practices during the festival.

The RTO emphasizes the importance of prioritizing road safety during the festive season, stating, "Drive safely to double the joy of welcoming Bappa and reach home safely with your family."
