FG gives MDAs November deadline to remove export barriers

The Federal Government has set a deadline of November 2026 for ministries, departments, and agencies to finalize the second phase of the National Single Window, aiming to eradicate export barriers. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr Jumoke Oduwole addressed this during a stakeholder meeting in Abuja. The National Single Window, unveiled on March 27, has processed over 124,614 licences and permits, registered 11,096 importers and agents, and trained more than 8,000 users.

It has also facilitated around N12.59bn in regulatory payments. Oduwole emphasized that the platform's success relies on exporters experiencing faster, simpler, and more predictable export procedures. The reform's effectiveness hinges on whether businesses observe such improvements. The initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu's economic diversification goals, aiming to boost non-oil exports, create jobs, and reach a $1tn economy by 2030.

Phase 2 of the project seeks to connect all agencies through a unified portal, one submission, and a coordinated process. The government is working towards an operating model where data migration, integration, user support, change management, and data governance are integral.
