Ex-MLB pitcher Go Woo-suk trying to put aside regrets to help old team in KBO postseason push

After spending time in Major League Baseball (MLB), former All-Star closer Go Woo-suk has returned to his old team, the LG Twins, for the remainder of the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) season. Go, who previously played for the team from 2017 to 2023, signed a deal with LG on Wednesday, expressing his gratitude for returning to his roots. The 28-year-old pitcher, who recorded 139 saves during his tenure with LG, acknowledged feeling a significant responsibility to help his team in the postseason.

Go's MLB career included stints with the Minnesota Twins, Miami Marlins, and Detroit Tigers, but he was never able to make it to the big leagues. He served an eight-game suspension after being ejected for having an illegal substance in his glove and struggled with his performance, eventually being designated for assignment by Minnesota. Go opted to pursue free agency, which led him back to LG.

With the LG Twins' bullpen struggling, Go is expected to serve as their setup man, while Son Ju-young continues to perform well as the closer. Despite not being eligible for postseason play, Go expressed his enthusiasm to assist his team in their push for a higher standing in the standings. He admitted to having regrets about not staying in MLB longer and emphasizes the importance of never losing sight of the reasons he pursued the opportunity in the first place.
