Enugu LG poll: NDC takes campaign to Oji River, vows to send APC packing

As the Enugu State local government elections approach on September 26, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is intensifying its campaign in Oji River Local Government Area. The NDC leadership, comprising Dr. Johnpaul Anih, Dr. Sebastian Okafor, Dr. SKC Ogbonnia, and other State Working Committee members, rallied supporters at the Community Market Square, Egwu-Achi, Oji River, on Thursday.

Dr. Anih urged residents to vote en masse for the NDC candidates, promising responsive, people-oriented, and accountable governance. He emphasized the need for voters to evaluate candidates based on character, competence, track record, and commitment to development, urging them to avoid being swayed by political rhetoric. Dr. Okafor appealed to the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission and security agencies to ensure a level playing field for all parties, emphasizing the importance of a free, fair, transparent, and credible election.

Dr. Ogbonnia called on Oji River residents to support the NDC, describing the party as a credible platform for political change and good governance. He urged the electorate to reject politicians who only engage during elections and stressed the need for leaders to remain accessible and accountable post-election. Hon. Anderson Emerole, the NDC chairperson for Oji River, thanked the State Working Committee for their dedication to strengthening the party and taking the campaign to the grassroots.

Bishop James Jideofor, the chairmanship candidate, assured voters of a responsive, inclusive, and people-centred administration if elected, promising to prioritize grassroots development and address community needs. Other party leaders and candidates addressed the gathering, encouraging residents to support the NDC at the polls.
