Elon Musk’s America PAC spends $800,000 to boost Republicans in key midterm races

Elon Musk's super PAC, America PAC, has allocated approximately $800,000 to support Republican candidates in crucial midterm races leading up to the 2026 US elections, according to NBC News. The PAC is focusing on several closely contested Senate contests such as those in Maine, Michigan, and Texas, as reported by the news outlet through a Federal Election Commission filing.

The filing indicates that America PAC has recently spent nearly $250,000 in the Texas Senate race, over $170,000 in Maine, and more than $25,000 in Michigan. This spending is scheduled to intensify as Democrats aim to overturn competitive seats and potentially reclaim control of Congress. The latest filing suggests Musk is prepared to allocate further funds as the campaign heats up.

America PAC is also involved in House and Senate races in over a dozen states including Alaska, Florida, Iowa, Maine, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Although the Texas spending is relatively small compared to the anticipated tens of millions in the race between Republican Ken Paxton and Democratic state Rep. James Talarico, it reflects the party's concern over Paxton's fundraising deficit.

America PAC's spokesperson Andrew Romeo has expressed excitement about continuing to aid Republican candidates ahead of the midterms, emphasizing the group's alignment with the GOP's efforts to maintain control of Congress. Musk has been a major financial contributor to Republicans since the 2024 presidential campaign, contributing over $250 million to support Donald Trump and other GOP candidates.

The billionaire repeated his political support the following year by funding a conservative candidate in a Wisconsin Supreme Court race, which ultimately lost. Musk and Trump initially shared a strong political bond during Trump's second term, often appearing together at Cabinet meetings. However, their relationship deteriorated, with Musk publicly disagreeing with Trump and proposing a new political party called the "America Party."

The rift seems to have diminished, as Musk and Trump have been seen together, including during Trump's China visit this year. With the 2026 midterms approaching, Musk's renewed PAC spending could prove to be a significant source of outside financial backing for Republican candidates in some of the country's most competitive races.
