Donaldson comes in at flyhalf as Wilson returns as captain for Australia vs Argentina

In a surprising turn of events, Australia has opted to field Harry Wilson at flyhalf for their upcoming rugby test against Argentina in Mendoza. Head coach Les Kiss reinstated Wilson to the pivotal position following Friday's decision, while Carter Gordon, who is recovering from an injury, steps aside and moves to the bench. Meanwhile, Les Kiss has also appointed Wilson as the team captain for the second test match, replacing Allan Alaalatoa.

The change in the flyhalf spot brings forward Ben Donaldson to the No. 10 jersey for the first time in 2026, alongside Carter Gordon. Len Ikitau and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii will partner again at center for the 17th time in 26 tests, marking the first occurrence under Kiss. This marks Ikitau's return after missing the first test due to injury, while Suaalii started that match on the bench.

In the backline, Filipo Daugunu replaces Harry Potter and lines up on the left wing, joining Max Jorgensen and Tom Wright. Tom Wright will play his 50th test for Australia. The fullback position sees the return of Tom Wright, who will be joined by Rob Valetini and Fraser McReight in the backrow.

On the bench, Taniela Tupou and Angus Bell return to the starting lineup along with hooker Billy Pollard. Josh Nasser, Aidan Ross, and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto round out the bench options. Starting hooker Brandon Paenga-Amosa is rested for this match.
