DIIV Share New Single “Kid” from Upcoming Album ZIRP!: Stream

DIIV has released the second preview from their upcoming album, ZIRP!, which is set to be released on October 30th through Fantasy Recordings. The new single, "Kid," is accompanied by a music video that was directed by Jaxon Whittington but filmed by frontman Zachary Cole Smith's son, Roy, and his friend Julian. The video features a child's perspective of what appears to be a professional music video shoot.

The album, ZIRP!, was produced by A. G. Cook, who initially focused on capturing the band's live sound rather than altering their demos as initially planned. Cook explained that he became obsessed with the band's live sound and insisted on recording live drums before most of the songs were even finished. The production of ZIRP! aimed to create a concept that is both utopian and dystopian, with the album title derived from the band's association with zero interest rate policies and their interpretation of a world filled with failed startups that have turned people into isolated "users."

The 11-track record follows their 2024 album, Frog in Boiling Water. To support their fifth studio record, DIIV will be touring with Interpol in North America in October and will also perform at various festivals in Paris, London, and other locations.
