Deep Dark Woods brings haunted sound back to city

The Canadian folk-rock band Deep Dark Woods is set to return to Winnipeg after a hiatus, performing at the Park Theatre for the first time since October 2017. Founded in Saskatoon in 2005, the band has released seven albums and has a strong following. Singer and principal songwriter Ryan Boldt has been with the group since its inception, while Geoff Hillhorst and Mike Silverman have been part of the band for several years.

The band recently released their 2025 record, The Circle Remains, recorded with producer David Parry in an analogue studio. Boldt's recent work includes a cover of a song by English folk singer Roy Harper and an EP with American singer-songwriter Erin Rae. Despite the demands of his personal life, Boldt remains dedicated to his craft and finds inspiration in the process of songwriting.
