Cubs rule out right-hander Ben Brown for the rest of the season with neck injury

Brown, 26, has been sidelined since mid-June with a stress reaction in his neck. His injury flared up after he pitched six innings and allowed two runs in a 16-2 victory against Toronto on June 19.

Brown's neck issue has previously kept him out of action for significant stretches in previous seasons. In his most recent appearance, Brown experienced discomfort during a throwing session on August 25, leading to his long-term absence from the team. Manager Craig Counsell emphasized that the injury is a bone-related issue that requires ample rest and healing time.

Despite being optimistic about Brown's recovery and potential return in spring training, the Cubs have ruled out any possibility of Brown pitching for the rest of the season.
