Colorado Rapids acquire Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq from AZ Alkmaar

Colorado Rapids have signed Ghanaian winger Ibrahim Sadiq from AZ Alkmaar, the club announced on Thursday. The 26-year-old, who has a contract until 2027-28 with an option for 2028-29, played for AZ Alkmaar over the last three seasons. During that time, he won the 2025-26 Dutch Cup and scored 18 goals in 85 appearances. Sadiq has also had stints with Swedish club BK Häcken and Danish side FC Nordsjaelland.

Colorado Rapids president Pádraig Smith praised Sadiq's talent, highlighting his pace, directness, and ability to create and score goals from wide positions. He added that the player brings valuable experience in winning championships and competing in European competition. Sadiq represented Ghana at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup, but has yet to make his senior team debut.

This signing comes after Colorado Rapids have significantly revamped their attacking lineup during the summer transfer window, bringing in Sayed Abu Farkhi and Ibrahim Sadiq following the trade of Rafael Navarro to St. Louis CITY SC. The team is currently seventh in the Western Conference with 31 points from 10 wins, 11 losses, and 1 draw, aiming to return to the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. Colorado is also reportedly close to signing Middlesbrough winger Morgan Whittaker on a club-record deal.
