In a statement to reporters, the presidential office emphasized that discussions on potential contributions to restoring peace and stability in the Middle East and the strait are ongoing.

Earlier, the news outlet JTBC had reported that the government was leaning towards sending troops and was in the process of reviewing details to submit a parliamentary approval request to the National Assembly. U.S. President Donald Trump has frequently criticized Korea for rejecting requests to provide naval assets and assistance in securing the strait, alleging that President Lee Jae Myung had previously declined to join U.S. efforts against Iran.
