Chase Elliott reacts to meeting Tom Cruise as Days of Thunder sequel comes to Daytona

Chase Elliott, a NASCAR star, has expressed support for the upcoming Days of Thunder sequel and hopes Hendrick Motorsports will be involved in the project. At Daytona International Speedway, Elliott met Tom Cruise, who confirmed the sequel to the 1990 classic would be released on June 2, 2028. Cruise will reprise his role as Cole Trickle, with Anne Hathaway joining as a team owner and engineer.

The film is set to begin production early next year. Elliott met Cruise during a drivers’ meeting at Daytona, where he inquired about Rick Hendrick’s potential involvement in the sequel. Elliott praised the original film’s iconic elements, such as City Chevrolet and the car’s design, and expressed excitement for a potential sequel.

Hendrick Motorsports played a significant role in the original film’s production, including building and repairing the stock cars. Elliott is currently eighth in the standings heading into the new 10-race Chase, with the championship title run beginning at Darlington Raceway.
