CCP Gets Forensic Support for Competition Law Violation Cases

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has partnered with the National Forensics Agency (NFA) to bolster investigations and enforcement of competition law with forensic expertise. The two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at CCP's headquarters in Islamabad, attended by CCP Chairman Farid Ahmad Tarar and NFA Director General Jawad Ahmad Dogar.

The agreement stipulates that NFA will offer technical assistance to CCP in digital, document, and other forensic domains pertinent to competition law investigations. This collaboration will enable CCP to employ scientific methods for evidence examination and analysis, especially in cases involving digital and electronic records.

The memorandum also encompasses provisions for technical training, knowledge exchange, capacity building, and enhanced coordination between the institutions. CCP Chairman Farid Ahmad Tarar emphasized that contemporary competition enforcement necessitates credible evidence and specialized technical proficiency, particularly as commercial activities and documentation increasingly shift to digital platforms.

NFA Director General Jawad Ahmad Dogar affirmed that the agency would contribute its forensic capabilities to support CCP and characterized the agreement as the beginning of a long-term institutional partnership.
