Carlos Alcaraz recovers after dropping the first set to reach the second round at the US Open

Carlos Alcaraz, the defending U.S. Open champion, made a strong comeback after dropping the first set in his match against Jaime Faria. Despite dropping serve early in the match, Alcaraz bounced back by winning eight consecutive games and ultimately prevailed 4-6, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2. The No. 2-seeded Spanish player, who had missed four months due to a right wrist injury, appeared rejuvenated and focused after his set loss.

He reflected on his mental approach, stating, "After that I just tried to be focused, tried to stay calm and I’m thinking that good things are going to happen again." Alcaraz's resilience paid off as he became the first player since Roger Federer in 2015 to go through six matches without dropping a set. This performance followed Alcaraz's seventh major title at the Australian Open earlier this year, extending his impressive 16-match winning streak in Grand Slam tournaments.
