Can Diogo Moreira secure factory Honda promotion for MotoGP 2027?

Honda has yet to reveal which of its young riders, Diogo Moreira or David Alonso, will join Fabio Quartararo in the factory MotoGP team for 2027. Diogo Moreira, a Brazilian who made his MotoGP debut this season with Honda's satellite team LCR, signed a contract with the Japanese manufacturer for two seasons plus an optional third.

This contract includes a clause that automatically activates the third year if Moreira moves up to the factory team in 2027. If Honda fails to promote him, he may become free for 2028. Although there have been no official announcements from Honda, indications suggest that the team line-ups for the factory and LCR will be revealed at the Japanese GP from October 2-4.

David Alonso, a Spanish- Colombian rider, was officially signed by Honda on a multi-year contract last month. Moreira has been the best-placed Honda rider at recent races, including a sixth-place finish in Hungary, and has secured top-10 finishes throughout the season. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his future with Honda, Moreira remains optimistic and focused on his performance, stating that he is doing his job well and enjoying the moment.
