Camilo Séptimo Member Jonathan Melendez, Pregnant Wife, and Daughter Murdered in Mexico

Jonathan Meléndez, a keyboardist, composer, and producer for the Mexican indie rock band Camilo Siete, was among four victims murdered in Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico, on September 1st. He was 38 years old, while his pregnant wife Ana Paula, 35, and their 6-year-old son survived. The fourth victim, Aleida Romero Victorio, 21, a nanny for the family, was identified by her family.

Two men have been arrested, with one allegedly using a business relationship with a victim to gain access to their home. Authorities in both State of Mexico and Mexico City cooperated, making arrests within 12 hours. Camilo Siete released a statement mourning Meléndez, described by bandmates as their "querido hermano," promising "immense love and gratitude" and sending condolences to the families of the victims.

Meléndez, known as "Honas," co-founded the band in 2013 and played a significant role in their music, contributing keyboards and songwriting. He appeared on several of the band's EPs and albums, including "No confío en mí," "Vicio," "Inevitable," and "Contacto."
