‘Brutal attack’: US missile hits wedding party in Iran's Sirik - What happened, casualties and what to know

On the evening of September 2, a United States missile struck a wedding party in the town of Sirik, Iran, according to human rights organizations and Iranian media. The attack resulted in the deaths of four people, including two women and two children, and left over 60 others wounded. Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, called the assault a "brutal" war crime and claimed it was part of the United States' desperate attempt to hide its failures.

Videos and pictures from the Iranian Red Crescent Society showed the aftermath of the attack, with walls and windows destroyed, debris scattered on the ground, and children receiving medical care. The International Criminal Court received a letter from the IRCS demanding legal action due to the civilian nature of the location and the presence of civilians at the scene.

The injured were transported to a hospital in nearby Minab, where they were reported to be in stable condition. Heavy explosions and fireballs lit up the night sky in Kuhestak on the Strait of Hormuz, as reported by Iran's semi-official Fars news agency. The incident occurred amid a series of American airstrikes in southern Iran, targeting air defenses, radar systems, and maritime assets.

The town of Kuhestak, located approximately 30 kilometers from Minab, where a US missile strike killed over 100 children on the opening day of the war, has become a central front in the six-month conflict.
