Brad Holmes, the Lions' general manager, spoke to the decision, stating, "You know, the kid made a mistake." Holmes explained that the team's actions were motivated by what was best for the club, emphasizing that they appreciated Arnold's contributions.

The use of the word "mistake" by Holmes has sparked debate. It is unclear whether Holmes believes Arnold committed the crime or if he simply acknowledges the consequences of Arnold being in a situation that led to charges. If Arnold had been a Pro Bowler in 2024 and 2025, it's possible the Lions might have defended him more vigorously.
