Bersatu, Muda leaders hold talks amid uncertainty over PN

On September 3, 2026, Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali met with Muda's top leadership in light of ongoing uncertainty surrounding Bersatu's position within Perikatan Nasional (PN). During the meeting, Azmin emphasized the focus on promoting "value-based politics" and policies geared towards enhancing the well-being of Malaysians. Responding to a Facebook post, Azmin expressed his appreciation for the viewpoints presented by Muda leaders regarding Malaysia's future.

Both relatively young parties, Bersatu and Muda share common ground in their political outlook, which includes a commitment to moderate and progressive politics, as well as issues concerning the people. The discussions also delved into crafting a political approach rooted in values that would benefit Malaysians irrespective of their background.

In attendance were Bersatu vice-presidents Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, and Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammad Radzi. This meeting comes amidst speculation over Bersatu's future within PN, following the emergence of growing divisions within the opposition coalition. Earlier, on July 17, Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the formation of a new coalition following the Negeri Sembilan state election, which he deemed potentially more significant than PN.

Muhyiddin further proposed that the coalition may encompass parties under the Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR), including Putra and Party Bersepakat Hak Rakyat Malaysia (Urimai).

The meeting between Bersatu and Muda reflects Bersatu's ongoing deliberations on its political path and its consideration of options beyond its current alliances in the lead-up to the upcoming general election.
