AT Ghana’s PPL Net must clear audit arrears before spectrum allocation – Sam George

Communications Minister Sam George announced that PPL Net Ghana Limited must submit its audited accounts before the National Communications Authority (NCA) can allocate additional spectrum. During the swearing-in of the company's new Board of Directors, Sam George emphasized that the NCA cannot legally issue spectrum to a company that has not submitted its audited accounts.

The government has decided to make spectrum available to PPL Net in three different bands, contingent on the company meeting the legal requirements. PPL Net's audited accounts are currently about a year overdue. The CEO of PPL Net welcomed the inauguration, emphasizing that the company aims to challenge the notion that telecommunications networks must be large to operate efficiently.

The CEO stated that PPL Net intends to grow its subscriber base while maintaining operational efficiency, challenging the prevailing belief about network scale and efficiency. Sam George highlighted that the newly constituted board has a responsibility to address the outstanding issues and position the company for the next stage of its operations, including clearing audited accounts and corporate governance matters.
