Apapa Terminal records 6% export growth in H1 2026

In the first half of 2026, APM Terminals Apapa reported a six percent increase in its export volumes, underscoring its dedication to promoting non-oil export growth in Nigeria and enhancing access to international markets. This growth, disclosed in a statement, can be attributed to the resilience of Nigerian exporters and a series of operational and service enhancements aimed at facilitating export trade.

Kamal Alhraishat, the Managing Director of APM Terminals Apapa, attributed the success to these factors. He highlighted several initiatives, such as dedicated export lanes at the terminal gate and rail connectivity, which are designed to simplify cargo flows and boost competitiveness for Nigerian exporters. The rail connection between Lagos and Moniya operates three times a week, offering an efficient alternative to road transportation, thereby reducing congestion and transit times.

The terminal also handles export cargo via the Ebute Metta rail corridor, helping exporters bypass road delays. Alhraishat emphasized the terminal's commitment to creating platforms for collaboration among stakeholders, including exporters, government agencies, shipping lines, and logistics partners, through its Exporters Forum.

This forum, now in its third year, aims to address real challenges in the export value chain and translate feedback into practical actions to improve efficiency and competitiveness. The Head of Commercial, Kayode Olufemi-Daniel, noted that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government's goal of building an export-led economy, highlighting the importance of timely supply chains to maintain the quality of exported goods.

APM Terminals Apapa's major export commodities include soybeans, cashew nuts, cocoa, hibiscus flowers, and solid minerals.
