Al-Ettifaq pursue Marseille defender Derek Cornelius after Rayo Vallecano deal collapsed

Al-Ettifaq are reportedly interested in signing Marseille defender Derek Cornelius, following the collapse of his potential move to Rayo Vallecano. The Saudi club has already begun talks with the French side, aiming to finalize the deal before their transfer window closes on September 6th. Although Cornelius was previously linked with a move to Rayo Vallecano, the transfer did not materialize due to disagreements.

The Canadian defender, who spent last season on loan at Rangers, has made 12 appearances, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Having joined Marseille in the summer of 2024, Cornelius failed to make a significant impact, registering 26 appearances in all competitions. A Canadian international, he has made 48 appearances for his national team, including the recent World Cup tournament.
