'A privilege' - Joyce steps down as Galway manager

Padraic Joyce has resigned as manager of Galway after a seven-year tenure. The two-time All-Ireland winning player took over from Kevin Walsh in 2019 and guided the Tribesmen to four Connacht Senior Football Championships and two All-Ireland finals. However, both finals ended in defeat, with Galway losing to Kerry in 2022 and Armagh in 2024.

Joyce expressed gratitude for the privilege of managing his county, thanking supporters, his backroom team, Galway's county board, his players and their families for their support. He stated that it has been a privilege and an honour to manage his county after wearing the maroon and white for so many years. Paul Bellew, chairman of Galway GAA, commended Joyce for his outstanding service during his seven-year run, noting that he brought Galway back to the biggest stage consistently and created an environment for players to develop and perform at the highest level.
