The BCCI has convened a crucial meeting in Mumbai on Thursday, September 3, bringing together India's head coach Gautam Gambhir, chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and Centre of Excellence head VVS Laxman. This gathering comes amidst mounting concerns over India's recent struggles in overseas white-ball cricket and the team's injury-management issues.

The team suffered a 2-0 T20I series defeat in Ireland in June, which ended their impressive run of 16 consecutive unbeaten T20I series. Their troubles continued in England, where India lost the five-match T20I series 4-0 after winning their opening match in Birmingham, but ultimately lost the three-match ODI series 2-1.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia will meet with Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Head Coach Gautam Gambhir, with VVS Laxman also likely to participate. The review will focus on analyzing the reasons behind India's poor performances away from home. The board aims to ensure that the coaching, selection, and cricket-development departments are aligned.

Player fitness and injury management are expected to be key topics in the discussions, with Laxman, who leads the Centre of Excellence, expected to play a significant role due to the CoE's recent scrutiny over a string of injuries and communication gaps between players, the medical setup, and the selection committee.
