Viatel acquires UK network infrastructure specialist EDNX

Viatel Technology Group, a prominent Irish IT and tech company, has recently completed the acquisition of EDNX, a UK-based enterprise networking and digital infrastructure specialist. The undisclosed financial transaction brings together EDNX's technical prowess in enterprise networking, network infrastructure, campus networks, secure IoT, Wi-Fi, SD-WAN, SD-Access, and application-centric infrastructure with Viatel's strategic focus on strengthening its capability in highly regulated, compliance-intensive sectors such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, and manufacturing.

This move is part of Viatel's broader expansion plans in the UK market, following its acquisition of Scottish cybersecurity consultancy FullProxy in July. Paul Rellis, CEO of Viatel Technology Group, emphasized that networks have become essential for security, resilience, and AI adoption, highlighting the importance of secure, efficient, and scalable data movement in determining business success.

EDNX CEO, David Ratcliffe, expressed that the acquisition enables the company to further leverage its deep technical expertise and commitment to delivering network infrastructure that supports critical outcomes. The integration aims to enhance customers' access to broader capabilities while maintaining EDNX's technical excellence and customer-centric approach. Ratcliffe noted that the companies share strong cultural alignment, ambitious goals, and a long-term commitment to customer success.

The acquisition also positions the combined entity to bring specialist enterprise networking, infrastructure, secure IoT, campus network, and Cisco capabilities to organizations across Ireland, while supporting continued growth in the UK market.
