US Justice Department pursuing hackers behind attack on X users

U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche announced on Wednesday that his department is collaborating with Elon Musk's X to identify those responsible for a recent password-recovery cyberattack targeting numerous X users. Blanche described the attackers as "sophisticated cyber criminals" whose efforts were thwarted by the platform. The statement did not offer further specifics about the incident.

X has yet to comment on the matter. The cybersecurity landscape is increasingly challenging, with AI-driven attacks and ransomware posing significant threats to businesses globally. To address these evolving threats, the White House announced in July the formation of a coordination group comprising AI developers and operators of critical infrastructure to share intelligence on cybersecurity vulnerabilities detected by AI systems.
