In a ruling that comes nearly a year after Charlie Kirk's murder, a judge has decided that Tyler Robinson, the suspected killer, should stand trial for the alleged shooting. The incident occurred on September 10, 2025, at a campus event in Utah, where Robinson allegedly shot and killed Kirk using a high-powered rifle during a student Q&A session. Robinson has pleaded not guilty to all charges related to the murder.

Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, released a statement on behalf of the Kirk family after the judge's ruling. In the statement, the family expressed their desire for justice for Charlie and their commitment to the pursuit of justice throughout the upcoming judicial process. They also expressed gratitude for the support they have received from friends, family, and the community during their year-long journey of grief.

During a preliminary hearing held in July, prosecutors presented evidence to determine if there was probable cause to proceed to trial. They argued that Robinson shot Kirk because of their disagreement, using a high-powered rifle to fire into a crowd of over 3,000 people.
