Three sites made 215,128 "best software" pages for AI. Perplexity cites them

Three sites have generated 215,128 machine-generated best category pages for AI software between December 2023 and September 2026. Perplexity cites these sites, which include Wikipedia, guideflow.com, wifitalents.com, worldmetrics.org, and gitnux.org. These sites do not operate in the categories asked about, yet their blogs were included in the retrieved citations.

Guideflow.com, in particular, was cited 194 times across 96 of the 380 categories, placing it third overall and ahead of Gartner. The other two sites, wifitalents.com and worldmetrics.org, appear to be part of the same operation, registered and operated through NameCheap and Cloudflare. They share a template, taxonomy, and blog content, with all eighteen blog posts discussing the other brands in the set.

The most-cited domains take up 17.3% of the citations, while the remaining 36.5% are unranked domains. The findings highlight the concentration of citations among a small number of sites and the use of marketing blogs as a source for generating AI software recommendations.
