Teen ordered to perform 50 hours of community service for possession of porn

A Form 2 student in Batu Pahat, Malaysia, has been ordered to complete 50 hours of community service after pleading guilty to possessing pornographic videos and images. Magistrate Mustaqim Sukarno ruled that the 14-year-old must fulfill the service within four months from today's date, as reported by Berita Harian. The teenager will also be required to enter into a three-year good behavior bond with a RM1,000 surety, adhere to a curfew between 9pm and 6am, and report to the social welfare department every two months.

He was charged under Section 292 of the Penal Code, which allows for a potential three-year jail term, a fine, or both upon conviction. The teen was apprehended at the Batu Pahat police headquarters on March 1 at 11.30pm for allegedly possessing pornographic content on his mobile phone. Deputy public prosecutor Nur Shahzleen Ibrahim presented the prosecution, while Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation represented the accused.
