Swiss rave shooting suspect suffering 'psychologically'

The man suspected of shooting dead an Italian woman at a Swiss rave party is reportedly suffering from psychological problems, according to prosecutors. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning during an annual rave at the racecourse in Aarau, the capital of Switzerland's northern canton of Aargau. The attack resulted in the death of a 22-year-old Italian woman and injuries to five others, some of whom were seriously hurt.

A 43-year-old Swiss man turned himself in to police in Delemont, in northeastern Switzerland's Jura canton. He is currently being held in custody and has maintained his silence since his arrest on Monday, as reported by Aargau cantonal prosecutor Christoph Ruedi. Police found two pistols and an AK-47 assault rifle in the suspect's car.

The motive for the attack remains unclear, and the suspect is not known to have any links to extremist movements. Police chief Michael Leupold stated that the shooter acted alone and fired around 40 rounds before fleeing the scene in his car. The five injured individuals were a Swiss man and a German woman, aged between 24 and 31, who were taken to the hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious.

Rave organizers expressed their devastation, stating that the attack "has broken our hearts" and emphasizing that raves should always be a place of joy and love, never a site of violence or fear.
