Streamer Victory+ Abruptly Collapses After Missing Payments

Victory+, a streaming platform that offered rights to games in various sports leagues, has recently collapsed due to missing payments, according to an email sent by a former producer. Brian Smith, the producer, apologized for the sudden notice and informed several Texas school districts that Victory+ had been dissolved by its parent company, A Parent Media Co. The Dallas Morning News reported the email on Tuesday, but both Victory+ and its Canadian owner have not responded to inquiries.

The platform had struck deals with teams and leagues across different sports, including the NHL, MLB, NWSL, WNBA, and high school football. However, cracks began to appear in the summer when the NWSL, Anaheim Ducks, and Texas Rangers dropped Victory+. Neil Gruninger, the CEO, was demoted and replaced during this time. The NWSL's deal reportedly fell through due to nonpayments, leading the league to place some games on The Roku Sports Channel.

The Stars, who have a stake in Victory+, declined to comment on the collapse, stating that they will air games for the upcoming NHL season on Amazon Prime Video.

The WNBA season, currently on hold for the World Cup, will resume in two weeks, with two Lynx games and three Dream games listed as airing on Victory+. However, the Lynx–Liberty game is only available on Victory+ in Minnesota, and the team has not provided details on where local fans can watch the game. Despite offering games for free in local markets and generating revenue through ad revenue sharing, Victory+ primarily employed a paywall for Stars games.
