Straw-laden lorry catches fire in Ranipet

A lorry carrying straw overturned in Ladavaram village, leading to a fire in Ranipet on Wednesday. The driver, S. Ravi, 46, suffered minor injuries but managed to jump out before the vehicle's cabin caught fire. The bundles of straw ignited when they made contact with a low-lying live electrical cable. Villagers noticed the fire and informed the driver, who then alerted emergency services.

Fire and rescue officials from Arcot arrived and worked for about an hour to extinguish the flames. The truck was not completely destroyed as the straw bundles were ejected from the vehicle. A case has been registered, and an investigation is ongoing.
