Sixteen people killed in bus crash in Egyptian area popular with tourists

Sixteen individuals lost their lives and 28 sustained injuries following a bus overturn on the Dahab-Nuweiba road in Egypt’s South Sinai, according to authorities on Wednesday. The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed that 16 people were killed and 28 others injured when the bus overturned on the road in the South Sinai governorate.

Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesperson for the ministry, revealed that the central operations room was immediately activated upon the incident being reported, deploying 20 ambulances to the scene to evacuate the injured and provide immediate first aid. The injured were subsequently transferred to hospitals for further medical care, with medical teams maintaining close monitoring of their conditions.

Sadly, 16 individuals succumbed to their injuries at the scene, and official procedures are currently being carried out. Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar issued a state of high alert, ensuring maximum medical care for the injured and supplying all required medicines and equipment in coordination with relevant authorities in South Sinai.

The ministry emphasized that it is closely monitoring the aftermath of the accident, with all medical teams fully operational to treat the injured. Additionally, the ministry offered condolences to the victims' families and expressed hope that the injured would recover swiftly.
