Sanyang vows security overhaul, zero tolerance for corruption in The Gambia

Prince Ebrahim Sanyang, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters–The Gambia (EFF-Gambia), has outlined a comprehensive security and governance plan if his party secures power. The EFF-Gambia chief emphasized decentralising emergency and policing services, adopting a zero-tolerance stance against corruption, and prioritising public safety and accountability.

Key proposals include the "One District, One Fire and Rescue" initiative to enhance emergency response times and the "One Community, One Police Station" plan to bring law enforcement closer to citizens.

Border security will be bolstered to protect the nation's sovereignty while facilitating legitimate trade and movement of people. In terms of governance, Sanyang vowed to combat corruption through public disclosure of government contracts, real-time budget monitoring accessible to citizens, and annual performance reports from ministries and state agencies. "Every dalasi spent must be traceable by the people who earned it," he stated, vowing to replace secrecy with transparency and impunity with accountability.

Moreover, his administration would implement digitised procurement, open contracting, and greater public oversight to curb waste and leakages in public expenditure. He believes that the resulting savings could be redirected towards food security, housing, healthcare, and job creation. Sanyang believes that his Security, Justice, and Transparent Governance agenda would create an environment conducive to attracting investment, generating employment, and fostering national development.
