Russia largest supplier of crude in Aug, US tops LPG, LNG volumes

NEW DELHI - In August, Russia emerged as India's largest crude supplier, accounting for 45% of the country's total oil imports, with 2.1 million barrels per day. This was a decrease from the 2.8 million barrels per day in July, which had been the highest ever. The United States led in the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) to India, representing nearly 51% and 38% of India's total imports respectively.

Other top crude oil suppliers included the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela. India's overall crude imports also fell in August compared to the previous months, likely due to a decrease in demand and scheduled maintenance at some Indian refineries. India also became a major supplier of gasoline and diesel to Russia, given the disruptions to Russian refineries due to attacks from Ukrainian forces. The US was also the largest supplier of LNG, with 0.8 million tonnes imported by India.
