Qatar to host Int'l conference on future of digital construction and AI

Doha will host an international conference on October 4 to explore how artificial intelligence and digital technology are transforming the engineering and construction industries. Organized by the Qatar Society of Engineers in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality, the Qatar Building Information Modeling (BIM) Conference brings together industry professionals, academics, and government officials to discuss the future of digital construction.

At the forefront of the conference will be Building Information Modeling (BIM), a digital approach that integrates and manages all information related to a construction project throughout its entire lifecycle. By streamlining project planning, construction, and asset management, BIM aims to bolster coordination among project stakeholders and enhance overall efficiency.

The conference will also delve into the regulations and standards governing BIM's use in civil and industrial projects, including its integration with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for geographically linked data analysis.

Artificial intelligence (AI) will be another major focus of the conference, with sessions exploring how emerging technologies can aid in predicting project risks, monitoring costs, and supporting engineering decisions. Digital tools' potential to promote environmental and architectural sustainability will also be examined.

More than 120 participants, including engineers, architects, project managers, property developers, researchers, and students, are anticipated to attend the conference. The Qatar Society of Engineers' Chair, Amna Al Naama, emphasized the organization's commitment to staying current with rapid technological advancements in the engineering and construction sectors.

BIM, she explained, has become an increasingly vital component of modern project delivery, facilitating seamless integration across all stages and participants of a project.

Naama also highlighted that the conference aims to bolster the skills of Qatar's engineering workforce and assess the future role of AI and other emerging technologies in the industry. The event is part of Qatar's broader efforts to support digital transformation and advance the objectives of the country's National Vision 2030.
